Review of Nighthawks (1981) by Arturo N — 31 Jul 2011
I read on the IMDb that this started out as a third French Connection movie, but was rewritten when Gene Hackman didn't want to play Popeye Doyle again. Makes a lot of sense and clearly they went ahead with that style.
Too bad that a great performance by Rutger Hauer and some tense, exciting action sequences are undermined by a script with underdeveloped characters and a corny, abrupt finish.
