Review of Nightcrawler (2014) by Lyn — 21 Mar 2015
Great as far as it goes -- Jake Gyllenhaal attains a new level of cold creepiness. And unlike most films/shows slamming the "if it bleeds, it leads" mantra, this film avoids preaching. Rene Russo is totally believable as the TV producer past the point of prettiness and fighting to stay relevant.
But I really wanted a little bit of insight into the lead character's behavior ... the logistics of his previous survival, not to mention the roots of his sociopathic behavior.
