Though Jake Gyllenhaal is undeniably a rising star, Nightcrawler wastes his talent -- along with the audience's time -- on an egotistical screenplay that fails to deliver enough of an intriguing story or action-packed violence to properly reward the audiences in return for their well-demanded patience before reaching an irritatingly anticlimactic letdown of a final act.
