Although Jake Gyllenhaal's performance as an eager sociopath is done with great conviction and zeal, Nightcrawler has little insight with the subject it deals with. It doesn't offer any commentary on news coverage or violence and instead follows a pointless story of a disturbed, anti-social man determined to capture accident and crime scene footage by any means that leads towards an inconclusive ending.
