Review of Nightcrawler (2014) by Ben T — 14 Feb 2016
"Nightcrawler" is a fantastic character study with one hell of a performance from Jake Gyllenhaal. The direction and cinematography are terrific, and they both paint Los Angeles in a way I have never seen before, and not just in television and film.
The screenplay is impeccable, and is filled with incredible suspense and utter shock at what some of these characters will do. Lou Bloom is one of the most intriguing film characters to come around in a long time, and you are constantly engaged in what he will do next.
There really was never a dull moment for me throughout this entire film. It's intense and gritty and incredibly captivating and is an absolute must-see.
