Review of Nightcrawler (2014) by John M — 16 Sep 2016
The movie left me feeling like I was forced to watch a car crash from too close up. Obviously acting accurately like a psychopath is worth lauding, but the metaphors and build ups were just too loaded for anyone with psychological perception to lend enjoyment to.
Instead of the bizarre surrealism of Patrick Bateman to indulge in, we are given an iron-tasting platter of Gylenhall made from his mold with all the glitz and none of the abstraction. It will keep you watching with a sense of isolated disgust and no room for expansion.
