Review of Nightbreed (1990) by Scott D — 30 Jun 2008
Criminally underrated adaptation of Clive Barker's stellar novella Cabal, written for the screen and directed by Barker himself. Craig Sheffer and Anne Bobby are pretty good in the lead roles while the great David Cronenberg takes a stab at acting and comes out well as the deliciously evil Decker.
Danny Elfman's score is awesome and the film's plethora of pre-CGI effects are incredibly good. Putting it simply, the film is a total blast but has a brain, too. Let's hope the Director's Cut eventually surfaces! Highly recommended to horror fans.
