Review of Nightbreed (1990) by Rcavey92212 — 15 Mar 2020
So this movie is pretty rad. Clive Barker added this gem to his fantasy horror collection and its inspired take on a mysterious tribe of outcasts is wonderfully relatable. Being a gay man I definitely get the comparisons of prejudice and racism throughout the film.
Watching his director's cut it's a pleasure to finally see his vision take form. Sure some of the set pieces could have used some fine tuning but the practical effects and creature design are so impressive and the direction is truly inspired.
It's a unique watch, not flawless but is kinda perfect the way it is. A small step up from the already great theatrical cut.
