Review of Nightbreed (1990) by Eric R — 01 Feb 2012
Nightbreed is Clive Barker's follow-up film to Hellraiser which tells the story of Aaron Boone, a man whose visions of undead, nocturnal underground monsters come into reality after his death. The films script lacks a lot and really is comically bad in sections but this film seems to have been made to showcase the crazy mind of Clive Barker.
This film is loaded with interesting, unique and bizarre monsters which could only come from his warped mind of Barker. It's a film that's really only for horror fans or people that are interested in special effects/monster make-up.
It's dumb and fun and features an amazingly cheesy performance by David Cronenberg, our main villian, a doctor who wants to destroy all of the "Nightbreed". One of those strange, late 80s/early 90s films that could never get made today.
