Tom Savini takes Romero's classic apocalyptic zombie film and updates it with a stronger and smarter heroine, good special effects, surprises and references for fans of the original and more violence.
Patricia Tallman is outstanding in the lead role. Some of Romero's political message is lost under Savini's direction, but this a great film that I actually prefer to the original.
