I've heard that the only reason this movie was made was because Romero didn't make any money off the original, because it wasn't copyrighted. This probably explains why the movie is about 85 percent just like the original.

But I liked the original more, mainly because the grainy black and white was creepier and the character of Ben was more well written. In this case, there is too much bickering between Ben and Cooper about whether to stay in the cellar or stay in the house.

There is too much hammering or boards to windows. It's almost as if it's Night of the Living Dead meats This Old House. Also, I really didn't like Patricia Tallman as the character of Barbara.

Granted, Barbara is well written, but Tallman just seems to think that leering at people is acting. Maybe it's in the direction of Tom Savini. This seems more like a rip-off than an homage. The dead are more cartoonish this time around.

Sure, it does have more blood and gore, but the scene of the dead feasting on the burnt bodies was more gruesome in the original. The only difference is the end in which Barbara lives, Ben is still shot, but not before turning into a "zombie.

" Cooper is still shot, but by Barbara instead of Ben and his body isn't eaten by his daughter. Check out the original movie or both its sequel Dawn of the Dead or its remake.
