Review of Night of the Living Dead (1990) by Russ V — 14 Nov 2015
Reviewers will never give a film like this a higher rating than the original. But in every modern day way, this film pretty much surpasses the original. Your main female protagonist is less of a coward and much more of an initiative taker in this outing. Tony Todd plays the black main character from the original, and Candyman nails it in this role. Easily, the best actor in the whole movie, again better than the original. The asshole dad is still a massive jerk.
The credits are awkward, the very ending us slightly dragged on and unnecessary. The pacing of the film and storyline and characters are pretty much like the original. Color is a nice touch. It's still isn't violent, but there are random naked zombie men and we see chap shots as a result for just the right touch of a brief nudity factor. The zombies are just as super slow as in the original. Tony Todd is really just the icing on the cake for why this version is so great.
