Review of Night of the Living Dead (1968) by Jeffrey L — 24 Sep 2010
The best horror film ever made, the dread sets in from the start. The first gore movie it broke so many taboos for the time, and is just as shocking today. The paranoia and terror is unrivaled by any other film.
Based on Matheson's "I am legend" it captures the isolation and hopelessness of the novel but the zombie plague is an improvement, replacing the vampire outbreak from the novel.Shot like a documentary,it adds to the realism.
The end of this movie is brilliant, even when faced with a common foe,man is still his own worst enemy.
