Review of Night of the Living Dead (1968) by Hassan L — 01 Nov 2011
Necessary viewing. The first zombie film ever (that wasn't about voodoo), and the start of the "listen we have to work together so we don't get ATE" narrative. It avoids all of the pitfalls and annoying issues other zombie films have.
Basically, imagine a very intelligent person who makes good films said "I'm going to make a zombie film that is not at all shameful for reasonable people to watch." It's probably also one of the first films where a black man slaps a white woman for her own good, and nobody complains.
