Review of Night of the Living Dead (1968) by Colter H — 11 Nov 2011
When people laud it 'the original and the best' they're not kidding. As far as zombie movies go, this is where it all began, and George A. Romero as debut writer/director gets it all right.
The characters are interesting, and unlike those in so many modern horror flicks, actually encourage you to root for them, rather than irritating you into spontaneous applause when they're inevitably bumped off.
The thrills and chills remain mostly in tact, even after 40 years of the horror genre desentizing audiences by pushing the limits ever more. Night of the Living Dead is a must-watch for any lover of horror, and even worthwhile for those, like myself, who are not.
