George A Romero's classic horror and original of his Dead series, where Night excels most is in its social/racial commentary of the times while proving (and this holds true almost half a century later) that less is more as Romero, on a bare bones budget, creates more fear and dread with the aid of a little makeup and an excellent cast than all the CGI monsters, gore, and scares available today.
