Review of Night of the Creeps (1986) by Hamel G — 16 Nov 2009
This long overdue horror/sci-fi opus finally sees the light of day due to its us dvd release. It's not only a lovingly crafted tribute to the monster B-movies of the 50's, watching it now it is also a nostalgia trip to the 80's.
The movie has everything we came to love (or hate) about that period: cheesy pop/rock songs, big hair, sorority house with lots of girls (sometimes naked of course), the nerdy hero, the love-interest and her cocky boyfriend and of course those wonderful 80's special effects.
Its story ( slug-like creatures from outer space enter humans, alive or dead, through the mouth, turning them into killing zombies) is great fun! Especially genre fave Tom Atkins (the fog, escape from new york, halloween 3, my bloody valentine) is a blast as the cynical detective, delevering one hilarious one-liner after the other.
"Girls, I have some good news and some bad. The good news is your dates are here. The bad news is they're dead" Simply genius!
