Review of Night of the Comet (1984) by Gabriel C — 24 Jun 2007
Growing up in the 80's we lived in the shadow of nuclear armageddon.I guess that explains of all the genres of horror,my favorite is the post-apocalyptic theme. This movie ,although technically a natural disaster is one of my favorites.
When scientist discover an approaching comet they calculate the last time it passed earth was when the dinosaurs were around. This causes people to celebrate(I thought it was new year's eve or something)most people take to the streets ,others, like a think tank of scientist are concerned.
When the comet passes earth it causes living things to vaporize and leave a pile of red dust.the few who survive because of random places they spent the night ,consist of 2 sisters,a Mexican truck driver, psychotic stock boys, deranged scientist and 2 kids.
The others are zombie like cannibals who were partially shielded from the comet.all in all this is a fun movie.likeable characters and some funny scenes and dialogue.check it out.
