Review of Night at the Museum (2006) by Gavin C — 13 Jul 2012
Now, we come to this one based on a children's book of the same name by Milan Trenc. For such a take on making a movie about Ben Stiller working as a night guard in a museum, this is a very interesting flick. Granted, the story can be predictable (not to mention very formulaic) with awful pacing and pathetically bad dialogue, but when it comes to comedy, I was laughing throughout the entire film.
The cast is great. Ben Stiller, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Ricky Gervais, Bill Cobbs, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Jake Cherry, and Robin Williams did such fantastic jobs with their performances when it comes to supportive actors. The script however, seems to be outdated as with the bad dialogue, but it had some good moments with the characters. The visuals are amazing and the special effects are overwhelming.
The music from Alan Silvestri is surprisingly good with a memorable theme song in the opening with Shawn Levy's perfect directing and wonderful cinematography that it's a shame that this movie got panned by critics back at the year 2006.
Night At The Museum has a very unique premise about an ancient artifact that makes everything in this museum come to life every single night which makes in a well worth watching due to its DVD releases.
