Review of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (2008) by Marion R — 29 Jun 2010
There's something very common and predictable about Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. It's got that kind of "lah-dee-dah we're ever so quirky" kind of tone and style to it which has been done countless times before and stems from other (usually better) indie movies.
Michael Cera once again carries a whole film with his effortless charm but even he can't make all the clichés and cheese good. Still, the film is harmless enough and you do get into it and start to care about the two main characters.
It was somewhat disappointing that a film with a music theme had so little memorable music in it. So overall it's no masterpiece and I would probably wait for Scott Pilgrim for a very decent Cera film but if you like sweet/quirky teen movies, it's ok.
Just ignore the whole orgasm subplot, it's...kind of disturbing.
