Review of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (2008) by Jacob M — 01 Mar 2013
I will admit, I am a fan of this kind of genre. I'm a guy, yes, and if you can find me a good romantic comedy or a charming or tragic romance, I will love it. One of my favorite movies is (500) Days of Summer, I loved Yes Man, Blue Valentine was great, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World was enjoyable, and I bet you I would really like The Notebook.
But even from my history of liking a nice heartfelt romantic comedy, this one did nothing for me. It started out fine and ended okay, but the middle was just one long struggle. The biggest problem I had with this one was it felt so much longer than it's running time.
It's a 90 minute movie but it felt like two and a half hours. What would happen was they would be in a bar, lose the drunk blonde girl, find her, be in a bar, lose her, then find her and have to get to a concert or something, then the two leads would get seperated, then get together again, then get caught in other things, then find each other again.
..what? In all, the events of this movie were completely pointless and just a way to get these two characters together in the end. So, this really is not my favorite movie but I will admit, it had a great soundtrack and the perfromances were pretty good (I always like Michael Cera).
Had it's moments, but in all mediocre.
