Review of Next (2007) by Movie K — 03 Apr 2010
Was quite a refreshing story but somehow didn't live up to the hype. The ending is a real anti-climax. Nicolas Cage is a magician. He also have the special ability to read 2 minutes into the future.
He have a recurring dream of meeting a woman which is Jessica Biel. Julianne Moore is a tough FBI agent with partner Tory Kittles. They are on a case of locating a missing nuclear bomb and need Nicolas help to find it.
He is leading a life of gambling small bets daily at casino and has been notice. When he wants to cash in, he see the future a man rob the casino and kill 2 gaurds. He stop it from happening but was mistaken.
He simply evade all the guards notice and escape. Julianne track him down but he is gone. Finally at the diner, Nicolas see Jessica, and manage to hitch a ride from her. Elsewhere, the casino guard was shot by 2 mysterious agents.
They want to know where is Nicolas too. They are the mastermind behind the bomb and wants Nicolas capture. He and Jessica stay over at the motel and make her like him. FRI trace through the camera and found them.
They give Jessica a pill to mix into water for Nicolas drink. The baddies are also on sniper mode. Jessica couldn't do it and told Nicolas. He instruct her on to do and give himself up. In the room, he push his limits and see the future and Jessica is strap with bombs and die.
He makes his escape and Julianne promise to have a deal with him. Jessica was capture by the baddies after they fail to kill Nicolas. He sees much more into the future and prevented many mishaps. The FBI strike first when he sees the license number.
Few of them bring Jessica as hostage into a boat. Nicolas track all the movements and save her. Then looking at the screen, he says he make a mistake and the bomb exploded right away. *Zoom* ... He wakes up with Jessica by his side at the motel.
He has seen so much into the future and he decided to co-operate with Julianne and promise Jesssica he will be back.
