Review of Newsfront (1978) by John S — 03 Feb 2009
Well-made film that is no doubt more rewarding for Australians and those in the business, as it comments on history and how it impacts those mediating its construction. For a change, this is done without po-mo pretense, uncritical nostalgia or obvious self-reflexivity.
Keep an eye out for Bruce Spence's hilarious cameo, which may have been an homage to The Cars That Ate Paris but is even funnier now after his subsequent autodueling flicks.
