Review of New York Stories (1989) by Devin W — 30 Jun 2007
The first short film, Life Lessons, is pretty good, but it was hard to care about the characters because they weren't developed very much at all. it would've been better as a feature-length film.
Life Without Zoe, the second film, wasn't terribly written or directed, but the acting was so bad that it made enjoying it impossible. sometimes child actors shine, but, in this case, they definitely did not.
the third short film, Oedipus Wrecks, was made by Woody Allen and is by far the best out of the three. its got a more slapstick style of comedy than most of Allen's work of this time, but it's pretty good.
and, if you like Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm, it's pretty cool to see a pre-fame Larry David have a small role in it.
