Review of New York, New York (1977) by Ian G — 08 Dec 2007
One of Scorsese's most underated films, since it delves into one of those genres that are underrated when done right, the classic musicals/period piece. Deniro and Minnelli are sparkling together playing two highly creative people trying to make their relationship work in the midst of being highly competitive together in their chosen field, music.
The period is nailed perfect and it is a great change of pace for the director coming off of Taxi Driver and right before raging bull.
