Review of New York, New York (1977) by Morgan R — 12 Jul 2010
Blend of old-school Hollywood musicals and hard-hitting Cassavetes-type relationship drama. The result is overwhelming and exalting. The music is great and Scorsese's visual flair compliments the material, but the relationship at the centre of the movie can be exhausting, which is not necessarily dishonest.
