Review of New Year's Eve (2011) by Annette D — 19 May 2012
The night I rented this movie was one of the best nights of my life. My wife has been wanting to watch this, and I was dragging my heels, but finally I gave in...I love the woman. Boy am I glad I did! New Year's Eve has most likely tipped the movie-choosing scales permanently in my favor. The sense of empowerment I feel is overwhelming. The crap we'll watch from now on: Alien: Resurrection, Weekend at Bernie's II, all the Superman's...even PORN!
On a more serious note, I feel a sense of pride that I was one of the people who got to see this movie before they ship it to Los Alamos for further research. I live in a place where there aren't many tornadoes, but there was one a few years ago. My best friend saw the thing, heard the wind howl. I was in the county, but only saw news reports, and I am envious to this day, as if he's slightly more of a man than me. Now, when I am old, I can say I not only lived during this time, I saw the thing, I heard the wind howl, I stared this force of nature in the face and am stronger for it.
Also, Zac Efron was delightful, as usual.
