Review of New Year's Eve (2011) by Wesley W — 30 Jan 2014
A bloated mess that never should have been made. The movie wastes an entire star- studded cast to present too many stories and about all of them are not interesting and none of them really connected or had a real purpose.
It was also boring as well because most of the performances were nothing special and the dialogue was bland and forgettable like the whole film itself. The attempts at humor all fell flat because they were cheap and the film's drama was many times melodramatic and heavy handed.
The movie wasn't complete garbage in my opinion because I was interested in Robert De Niro's character even though I feel he was completely wasted here and I thought Ashton Kutcher put on a solid performance.
In the end, the film could have been better than it was considering the star studded cast, but they were only used as bait to try to get people to go see the movie in theaters and steal their money.
