Review of New Jack City (1991) by Willem W — 13 Mar 2008
Back when this genre was fresh, New Jack City set a pretty decent standard for this kind of film. It's been ripped off and copied countless times in straight-to-video 'gangsta' epics, but Van Peeples focuses not only on the cops and robbers aspect of the story, but on the social implications, which makes this film a cut above others like it.
Man, this was back when Wesely Snipes was HUNGRY and he kicks ass in this.
