Review of New in Town (2009) by Adeline L — 10 Jul 2009
Completely devoid of even a spark of originality, this conventional chick-flick miscasts Zellweger as an annoying heroine cinematically railroaded into an unlikely romance.
If you've sufficiently doped your critical faculties before setting down to watch, this movie is fine. It does about what you'd expect, does it with basic competence, and includes moments of humour along the way.
I can't quite forgive the movie for the way its protagonists jerk and lurch unsteadily forward with their romance; I get no sense of spark or depth in their relationship.
But perhaps others can be more forgiving than I.
