As a born, raised, and current, Minnesotan... I must say: This movie is so off! Ya, we do say Ya, some say Ya Betcha, Usually it isn't all in the same sentence! Yeah, sure Ya betcha, Gee Golly! We are portrayed as local yocals! Like all we like is Tapioca, Ice Fishing, and wearing tacky sweaters! Why on earth is Renee Zellwegger's character the only person dressed in modern clothes. Hollywood must think we don't have malls here! Plenty of us high light our hair, speak with out that ridiculous accent portrayed in the film, and know who Fergie is! If you are going to do a portrayal of a certain demographic you should really research it better. As far as the Jesus thing being brought up in the movie... What the hell! Minnesota is very versatile state. We have many different cultures and religions. Some are christians that hold Jesus sacred, but I have not encountered a group that goes around asking everyone about if they have found him. They forgot a type on the film. Minnesota nice. We have boundaries and tack and courtesy, it is not displayed in this film. While they were trying to capture that home town feel, they made us all look like freaks! If you want a more accurate portrayal of Minnesota life... I would suggest Juno (It was written by a real Minnesotan and filmed here), the characters in that movie are much more fitting to our Minnesota life but at least have range. This film was not made by a Minnesotan, nor filmed in Minnesota... It shows! One other thing... They only portray Minnesota in the freezing cold, which is important, but only one side to this states natural beauty! Summer in Minnesota beats California, Miami, Texas, Maryland, Yes I have been to all those places!

As far as the movie itself, it was a typical romanic comedy! It lacked alot but they usually do, the story itself was enduring and sappy! So I thought it was okay! I would have given it a %70, but their awful lack of research and crap portrayal of us sucks! I still though the acting cast did good, they were just directed by a bafoon!
