Review of New in Town (2009) by Ellen R — 27 Aug 2009
This was a cute and heartwarming romantic comedy. As a native Iowan (Minnesota's southern neighbor), I found the portrayal of small town Minnesotans to be fairly accurate, both in their attitudes, hobbies, and accents. Zellweger plays a prissy executive who gets sent to Minnesota to run, and later shut-down, a small-town factory. At first, the locals don't trust her and try to drive her off. But eventually, Zellweger becomes part of the community, and they all band together to save the factory. The romance between Zellweger and Connick is secondary, but it does add some of the more amusing scenes to the movie. This is a great date-night rental. Women and girls of all ages should love it, and even men should enjoy it.
