Review of New in Town (2009) by Roxanne R — 29 Aug 2009
I dont beat around the bush so point blank I need to say the film was disappointing, ludicrous, bad script overall, simply not believable and it lacked chemistry between Zellweger and Connick Jr. Zellweger plays the role of Lucy Hill, an executive who loves her life in Miami yet trying to grab a big promotion she agrees to move to Minnesota to oversee the restructuring of a blue-collar manufacturing plant.
The dialogue was so predictable, somewhat boring and although I like films where women are portrayed as smart, intelligent, independent, assertive and such, this one just does not pass the grade. Lucy endures icy roads and freezing weather of below 40 degrees!! After many failed attempts at winning the folks over, she does warms up to the town folks.
..Filming actually took place at Winnipeg Canada where temps dropped to 50 below zero..filming under thsoe conditions can be quite challenging so I give the crew credit for that! However skip it because its bad.
