Review of Never Say Never Again (1983) by Steve J — 29 Sep 2010
I haven't seen Thunderball so I can't say whether this is better or not. I can say that it suffers from a lot of the same problems the Moore films did around the same time in terms of pacing and occasionally poor action sequences.
the underwater battles have become so overused that they are *never* exciting. Barbara Carrera is wholly underwhelming, awkward and just plain bad. The score is absolutely tuneless and distracting. But, Connery is a more grounded and mature Bond, even if women half his age are still throwing themselves at his feet, Brandauer and Basinger do a good job.
Atkinson was under-utilised!
