Review of Never Let Me Go (2010) by Ahmed A — 06 Jan 2013
This is not "a poignant love story" as the description above says. It is an incredibly disturbing alternative reality, taking place in England, where cloned humans are raised and harvested for their body parts. This is about the furthest thing from a love story I can imagine. The film is so disturbing that I couldn't get to sleep and had to take a sleeping pill.
The "redeeming value" of this story is that it asks the viewer a deeper question: Are you just floating through your life waiting to die also? Is your life so much more meaningful than a clone who is hanging around for the next operation where they are going to take his liver out?
Disturbing. Not a love story.
