Review of Network (1976) by Garrett O — 18 Nov 2009
Paddy Chayefsky and Sidney Lumet, need I say more? Great direction and an awesome script equals great movie. Incredible satire, great humanity and you usually don't get both in the same movie. The cast consists of some of the best character actors of their generation. Ned Beatty has a monologue that has to be seen to be believed. Faye Dunaway is sexy and disturbing and you can't take your eyes off her--like a car wreck. William Holden's acting is simply masterful.
Peter Finch is the soul of the cast and his "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" is one of the cinema's all time classic lines. This is a great movie.
