Review of Network (1976) by Stacy G — 20 Feb 2011
"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore". Great film. Satire on the state of television that is still relevant and shocking today. The cast is superb. Network news was a loss profit, a service to the people.
That changed, news now is responsible for its ratings and serves to entertain. This film explores this change and pushes it to the edge. Remember that the film predates reality tv, 24/7 news with an agenda, and shock tv.
The film, like Howard Beale, acts as almost a mad prophet on the state of television.
