Review of Network (1976) by Alec B — 15 Jun 2011
Yes it predicted the eventual downfall of news into a carnival of popular pandering and its now more relevant than ever and blah blah blah . . . All of those things are true but I feel that the specific emphasis on that takes away from just how damned good the movie is.
The screenplay is witty, insightful, and terrifying, Sidney Lumet knows what to play for over the top laughs and what to make quiet and sad, and the cast is perfect in each of their perspective roles.
