Review of Network (1976) by Antoni G — 01 Jan 2013
This film is more than just a satire of how network executives are when it comes to ratings, it is almost like a crystal ball that sees what is and what will go wrong in America's society through Howard Beale's preachings on the airwaves.
Speaking of network executives, it is also interesting to see how soulless they are like Diana Christensen. By far the only character that is human despite his flaws in marriage is Max Schumacher, simply because he knows that television can destroy him like what has happened to his best friend Howard Beale.
So aside from its interesting cast of characters, the other best thing about this film is its witty dialogue all thanks to Paddy Chayefsky. This also had its well deserved Oscars and that's why I love this film so much.
It has intelligent writing, great characters and very real despite being a satire. I recommend it profusely.
