Review of Network (1976) by Brent D — 02 May 2014
Network, directed by Sidney Lumet, is really a triumph for Chayefsky, the screenwriter. He makes his actors say their lines the way he wants, move the way he wants, and essentially, act the way he wants.
But what a success this film is; even in 1976, it could be predicted that network stations would do anything for ratings, even if that meant resorting to extreme measures. The accuracy of the message is uncanny, which is what makes this film.
