Review of Network (1976) by Jj M — 09 Jul 2010
Bites to the bone, but that scene with Holden and Dunaway, where he begs her to consider the reality of their own predicament as opposed to the bullshit world of tv and ratings, which she is so consumed in, is the most reasoning (and humane) moment in the film.
And for all the cynicism that clearly prevails throughout, its worth it just to watch that scene alone and become enthralled by the power of Holden's words. Of course the Howard Beale moments are pretty awe-inspiring too.
