Review of Network (1976) by Brandon H — 24 Jul 2010
This over-written, over-acted, over-wrought film doesn't bomb because its script still stands tall every once in awhile. So many lines make you nod your head in agreement, like, "Yeah, I feel that same way but couldn't articulate it like that." So for that I have to give it credit. But there were so many other moments that did the opposite for me; made me think, "Nobody talks or acts like this. Where is all his/her anger coming from?" These people act as if they're in a stage play, a bad one at that. Emotion just swells up like its a commodity they're drowning in and don't know what to do with.
Still worth watching.
Upcoming: House of Games, Green Zone, The Ghost Writer, Cold Souls.
