Review of Nerve (2016) by Lawrence C — 02 Nov 2016
I should say to begin with that, due to boredom, I turned this film off half-way through. The premise was kind of cool....a new online game with untrackable servers goads people into ever-more risky dares in order to build their audience numbers and win cash.
The dare has to be filmed with the player's phone and has to be completed within fifteen minutes. With this premise, and a few charismatic cast members, this could have been a slick, action thriller and an interesting commentary on today's online culture.
Instead the characters are pretty, but dull, and the script is banal. Enticing title. Flat film. Sad face.
