Review of Nerve (2016) by Ezgi E — 16 Oct 2016
Surprisingly original and up-to-date! A good attempt to show the shallowness of social media users and fake friendships.
Indeed, people who lack in self-confidence use social media, e.g. instagram to upload selfies, expose their bodies and sexuality to gain attention and maybe friends. Even celebrities do that, as they need many followers and likes and comments to feel better. Those people have no personality, no real talent and integrity.
Movies like this that touch upon serious topics are food for thought! That is why I also love this year's "The Neon Demon" that reflects the absurdity of the fashion industry in a very relentless way!
Emma Roberts is improving in acting, she also deserves much respect for declining the role of the infamous Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad. She would've become an A-list actor by now, but she chose to star in character-driven indie films. Hats off!
However, Dave Franco is unfortunately subpar and doesn't seem to enjoy being in the movie.
