Review of Nekromantik (1988) by Samuel K — 20 Aug 2010
This was definitely a pretty fucking gross movie. The sound and film quality were pretty poor, in many scenes the camera sort of shook as if someone was just holding it. But in certain scenes the amateurish filming somehow made some of the graphic scenes even more graphic.
Much of the movie I spent pretty grossed out and concerned about disease. The body cleanup crew didnâ??t even wear gloves and sex with rotten corpses isnâ??t exactly cleanly. Iâ??m 99% sure the scenes of animal abuse/killing/butchering were completely real.
So I had to close my eyes through much of it. I also found myself fast forwarding through the sex scenes for they were unnecessarily long and too disgustingly graphic to watch for such a lengthy period of time.
Shitty music played throughout most of the movie, there was very little dialogue, but it wasnâ??t really necessary for there to be any anyway. There were often close-up shots of fairly random things, like urination, which I didnâ??t understand; maybe itâ??s a German thing.
The movie at times moved incredibly slowly, but yet the plot moved along much too quickly. Overall, not a good movie, but interesting enough plot wise to merit watching it once.
