Review of Neighbors (2014) by David L — 22 Jan 2016
These sort of movies can get boring very quickly in my eyes. They all just kind of blend into one with their immature American humour, random top less shots of the main stars, and incessant use of profanities and sexual behaviour.
Depending on what mood you're in when you're watching it, your tolerance levels may waver. I personally like the odd movie from hundreds that has politically incorrect humour mixed with adolescent jokes, so if a film then comes along and doesn't better it, it's already considered a failure in my eyes.
This is yet another that has fallen by the wayside. I can put up with them, they're very watchable, have a reasonable flow, but wouldn't be worth expending pennies on at the cinema or the resulting DVD - this is certainly a wait till it is shown on tv standard.
Like all others it has a basic concept - young couple with baby struggle to live with their partying neighbours, so hatch a set up to get them kicked off the street. Amidst all that is then a whole host of drugs, sex, drink, and partying to generate the appeal to its 15 year old market.
It's frustrating that there seems a constant stream of this kind of tripe and perhaps my dislike for them is due to their frequency of release. However, unless the population suddenly stop breeding, there will always be a demand for these, and although I can enjoy such humour, they never manage to pull out all the stops in creating a comical masterpiece.
