Review of Ned Kelly (2003) by Cricket L — 01 Mar 2008
HANDS DOWN Heath Ledger's best performance. how he wasn't nominated for an Oscar for it is beyond me.
I knew the tale of Australian folk hero Ned Kelly and was happy to see the story come to life and incredibly close in its accuracy.
It's an emotionally powerful film, and for those who say things like "storytelling is bland and the music is over dramatic in order to compensate", I urge you to look up the life of Ned Kelly and watch the film again. I think those who do will see the film in a different light.
There were moments in the movie where I caught myself yelling "what the f?!" at some really shocking moments and sobbed during the last 30 minutes.
Just a beautifully made film.
