Review of Near Dark (1987) by Gemma F — 26 Dec 2007
Why the widespread comparisons with The Lost Boys? Historical juxtaposition, or simple stupidity? (I'm voting the latter.) This is dark, rollercoaster, flat-out noir, closer to Jim Thompson with(out) fangs than anything else; it's a road movie, an outlaw family movie, a semi-contemporary Western, and never mentions the v-word once.
Falls down in the very last frames, but that really ain't bad at all, unless you hail from knob-ville.
