Review of Near Dark (1987) by Nick B — 14 Jul 2009
Not quite as genre-busting as I was led to believe. Critics latched onto a few original quirks and called this a masterpiece, but "Near Dark" is filled with wince-inducing, hokey moments and few truly interesting characters.
The bar scene is truly horrific, but the film is unable to sustain its unbearable menace.
