Review of Near Dark (1987) by Michael B — 17 Aug 2009
Horror/western hybrid has a really simple storyline but it's kept utterly compelling by the atmosphere thanks to Bigelow's direction and the Tangerine Dream soundtrack. Bill Paxton is nutty as usual, aided and abetted by cragglefeatures Lance Henrikson.
Highlights are a massacre in a bar and the slow-mo chase down the highway finale. Top stuff.
